BUTTERFLY FISH CORALFISH 1

COPPERBANDED BUTTEERFLYFISH Dot and Dash Butterflyfish
Copper Banded Butterflyfish, Chelmon rostratus is the quintessential reef fish ambassador. It is one of my favorite fish in Australia. C. rostratus is found in the southern Great Barrier Reef. Chaetodon pelewensis, the dot and dash butterflyfish. This species is known to have produced natural hybrids in the wild with C. rainfordi.
Lattice butterflyfish Long nose butterflyfish
C. rafflesi, the lattice butterflyfish displays strong pair bonding. Butterflyfish survive by watching out for each other. Their excellent eyesight and quick reflexes protects them from predators. Forcipiger longirostrus, the long nose butterflyfish uses its long beak to pluck coral polyps. There are two species of Forcipiger (the short and the long species) as well as an all black form which I have photos of from Osprey reef in 1987.
