Dolphins

Seen here riding the bow wave of our boat on the Great Barrier Reef. These are common Dolphins. They have a conspicuous white band on the side. By contrast, the Bottlenose Dolphin has a more even grey brown colour and is usually much larger.

Second photo shows a group of Risso's Dolphins at Wallindi, East New Britain, PNG. They are also known as Grampus Dolphins. They do look superficially like small Pilot Whales. However, they grow around to 4 to 5 metres. Risso's dolphins provided us with a delicious problem in Kimbe Bay. Do we keep snorkelling with the dolphins or keep going to do our scuba dive? Naturally, we tried to do both.
